Levanti's This Month's Recipe is brought to you by Levanti's Italian Restaurant
Compliments To The ChefOld World Italian Sauce in 35 Minutes
Levanti's Introduces Two New Exciting Sauces

There is a variety of sauces in the market that profess an "Old World" taste, but nothing you can buy in a jar beats the taste of homemade. Cooking homemade sauces richly adds to the ambience of the dinner experience. Many who want to try their hand at making a homemade sauce are reluctant because of the time involved. The truth is, flavorful sauces can be made in about 35 minutes. Still reluctant? Don't know which recipe to use? Try one of our new sauces at Levanti's. Impress your guests with an Old World Italian sauce of legendary flavor.

From The Kitchen:
Levanti's Tomato-Basil Sauce
1/2 cup olive oil (Colavita)
1 small red serrano chili pepper, sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
6 lbs. of plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oil in large heavy skillet over medium heat. Add chili pepper and garlic. Sauté until tender, about 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes. Simmer until soft, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Add basil, season with salt and pepper. Cook until thick, about 10 minutes.

Celebrates Grand Opening

Levanti's is celebrating its grand opening, but it wants you to celebrate what's best about Italy and Italian cooking every time you come to Levanti's. Levanti's is serving up handmade, homemade gnocchi and pastas, soups prepared from scratch, fresh steaks, seafood and poultry, and sauces for the real Italizn sauce connoisseur. Levanti's patrons may choose from five delicious sauces. Samples will be made available at the table.

"Everybody likes what he likes," says Anthony and Anna Fratangeli, seniors of the family owned and operated Levanti's. "Some like the mild sweet flavor, some--the more pungent flavor of  garlic."

"We want you to choose," says Dino, son of the Fratangelis, and on of Levanti's chief cooks. Dino and his sister, Tina, who also works in the family restaurant, were born in Beaver County. Their parents were not. Both native Italians, Anthony came to America with his family at age 13.  Anna came after she became Anthony's bride, many years later.

America became for the Fratangelis, a land of opportunity, a place to fulfill their dream of opening a "Family" restaurant, and a place to share with their patrons, what's best about Italy.

Monay-Thursday 11:30-8:00 PM
